The return of 95 per cent mortgages

Times are hard for first-time buyers, which makes the new 95 per cent mortgage from Affinity Sutton and Santander a welcome prospect for some

To enable young buyers to get on the property ladder in a poor economic climate, the new collaboration is offering shared-ownership deposits for as little as five per cent.

For example, to purchase a 25 per cent share of a two-bedroom apartment in Worthing, a buyer would only be set back a total of £2,750; compared with the current average deposit of £31,500, required by most first-time buyers.
