Improve your sex life

If you feel like your sex life isn’t what it used to be, you’re not alone. The good news is that although in some cases the problem might be a medical issue, for many people you can improve your sex life by making a few lifestyle changes.

Mix it up
“Explore different locations, like a romantic bubble bath or the living room rather than the bedroom”, suggests Jo Hemmings, relationship expert at We-Vibe UK. “Or vary the time of day you have sex: if you’re struggling to sleep during the night why not tire yourself out by making love at midnight?”

Passion food
When your body is healthy your sex drive will be healthy too. Getting your five a day is a good place to start: vitamins and antioxidants will help maintain good blood flow to the sex organs. And some foods naturally increase libido.

Try a toy
Gone are the days where sex toys were only found in shops with blackedout windows. “A couples’ massager is a great way to rekindle your romance”, suggests Jo. “You can both enjoy the pleasure of a sex toy at the same time with our revolutionary We-Vibe 4.”

Get fit
Moderate regular exercise helps to improve blood flow to your sexual organs and also helps you feel good about yourself – this in turn will help you to feel sexier and more attractive. It’s a win-win!

Breathe in
Aromatherapy is a great libido booster. “Research has proven that certain scents can have a powerful effect on the olfactory bulb in our brain, which houses our sexual desires”, consultant aromatherapist Joannah Metcalfe at Base Formula
(http://www.baseformula.com) explains. “Try Rose, Jasmine, Sandalwood, Bergamot, Patchouli, Neroli and Mandarin essential oils to make massage oils, room sprays or bath oil.”

Rub it in
Massage can really get you in the mood, particularly if you’re feeling stressed out. Set the mood with soft lighting and music, then start with a back massage and see where it leads…

Get away
“If you want to boost your libido, it’s important to make time for each other”, explains Jo. “Book a short escape for you and your partner. You’ll find sex is much more enjoyable if you’re somewhere new.”

What to expect when your expecting

Natural aphrodisiacs
Head to the health food shop and try Gingko Biloba, thought to have an enhancing effect upon desire, excitement and orgasm; Horny Goat Weed, named after a
goat herder hundredsof years ago; or Maca, a native plant of South America, known as Peruvian Ginseng. Holland & Barratt have a good range.

Dress it up
Many women worry their partner won’t find them attractive after many years of being together. “This is far from the truth”, Jo says. “But if you want to ooze sexiness and boost your confidence pick up some gorgeous lingerie on the way home from work and surprise your partner in the evening.”

Experiment!
Trying different sexual positions can really spice things up. “Predictability and routine in the bedroom is what can make sex so lacklustre for many couples”, explains Jo. “Once you stop anticipating fun, fulfilment and pleasure.
