Carol Voderman supports the Neighbourhood Health Watch drive

Neighbourhood Health Watch is launched by Carol Vorderman to encourage people to improve their health together
Carol Vorderman has launched a campaign with Lloyds pharmacy to encourage neighbours to join forces to improve their health, after a survey by the pharmacy showed 13.4m of us did nothing to try to improve our health last year. Many said that they tried to live a healthier lifestyle but failed, with 9.2m people admitting they did it for a year but stopped, and two thirds said they gave up within the first six months. Three areas with significant poor health have been chosen to show the results – Glasgow, Liverpool and Birmingham.
Carol Vorderman says, ‘Trying to maintain a healthier lifestyle can be a really lonely business. If you don’t have a network of support around you it’s easy to slip back into bad habits. Lots of people have to go it alone when they decide to do more exercise, stop smoking, follow a better diet or cut back on alcohol. All around us – probably on the same street – there are people in the same boat, people who have the same goals and are struggling with the same motivational barriers’.
A health improvement plan will be given to participants along with mini health checks throughout the year, a series of challenges and free equipment such as blood pressure monitors. To find out more visit www.lloydspharmacy.com/neighbourhoodhealthwatch.
