House prices rise broadly across the UK
Phil Spencer gives his thoughts on house prices

House prices are rising in every region in the UK apart from Wales, Yorkshire and Humberside.

According to the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) house prices are rising all over the UK apart from in Wales, Yorkshire and Humberside.
Prices in Yorkshire and Humberside are expected to continue falling, while in Wales prices are expected to rise.
London house prices are in the lead, with 55 per cent of surveyors reporting a rise, up from 32 per cent the previous month, followed by the South East up by 28 per cent.
In the North, Midlands, South West and Scotland, prices are up and are expected to continue climbing.
Guest editor for Celebrity Angels: Home magazine, Phil Spencer says, ‘I expect things will be quiet until the end of the year. It’s going to be a strange period because the property market is very polarised with different areas behaving in different ways. If an area has high unemployment there’s going to be forced selling, repossessions and prices are going to fall. In a lot of areas, people will be feeling confident and healthy and in a completely different market. It’s confusing for people as the statistics they’re going to read on the front page of the paper, won’t necessarily correlate with what’s happening in their local area.’
