Computer lessons to get a revamp in schools
ICT has been criticised for being ‘harmful and dull’

Knowing how to use a computer is a must now for many employers when looking for new recruits

However, the current programme for students learning information and communications technology (ICT) has been criticised for being ‘harmful and dull’ as is doesn’t get students ready for real life.

Education secretary, Michael Grove is currently working on scrapping ICT from the school curriculum and replacing it with an open source curriculum in computer science and programming.

Grove is expected to start working on creating the new lesson next week, collaborating with universities and people in the industry.

He hopes that the new lesson will equip students with the technology skills that they need to enter the 21st century.
