CBD Oil: What You Need to Know?

CBD Oil is fast growing in popularity throughout the health industry, which is why SEA CBD Oil will be answering all our questions on what CBD is, how to use it and who could potentially benefit!

How do CBD products differ from the THC ‘medical cannabis’ products recently legalised for treatment of epilepsy?

CBD is a compound found in hemp and cannabis plants, which is classified as a natural dietary supplement. THC is extracted from the same plants, but is a controlled psychoactive substance and claims to have medicinal effects. This is why it’s regulated as a medicine known as ‘medical cannabis’ and can only be obtained by prescription from an authorised physician.

CBD products, however, contain no psychoactive properties and are widely available in health shops and online retailers throughout the UK.

How can the quality of CBD products be guaranteed?

Reputable CBD brands will be transparent about their manufacturing processes and where they source ingredients. An independent lab report is important as that verifies the CBD and THC levels present, and each bottle should have an individual batch number taken from a batch report. A certificate of analysis that demonstrates compliance with EU Food Supplement regulations should also be available.

What are the positive effects of CBD products?

As more and more people incorporate CBD into their diets, some claim they’ve experienced positive effects with issues like anxiety, nausea, digestion, insomnia, arthritis and chronic pain. Research shows that CBD affects our endocannabinoid system (EBS), a network of cell receptors and molecules in the body, which includes the brain, nervous system and immune cells. Responsible for regulating things like mood, memory, pain and appetite, our EBS can be easily knocked out of balance by stress and the natural aging process. Scientific studies claim, CBD can counteract this by helping body and mind achieve a state of optimal equilibrium. As Sea CBD is a food supplement and not a medicine, legally we cannot communicate any medical benefits or make any health claims.

Do CBD products have any side-effects?

People consuming CBD as a dietary supplement haven’t experienced any major side effects. Food supplements and natural remedies can affect different people in different ways though. So, if you’re taking any medication or are susceptible to allergic reactions, it’s a good idea to speak with your medical practitioner before taking CBD.

Are there any popular misconceptions about CBD products?

Absolutely, and correcting these misconceptions was one of the core reasons behind setting up Sea CBD. We frequently came across poor quality CBD products false health claims, and messaging that gave the impression CBD gets you ‘high’, is illegal, addictive, the same as ‘medical cannabis’, or simply another word for cannabis.  We wanted to do things differently by using positive, honest messaging and by sourcing the purest ingredients to create a premium food supplement.

What sort of people could benefit from using CBD products?

Adults of all ages can enhance their quality of life by adding CBD to their diets to promote a sense of invigorating calm. People seeking an alternative to traditional remedies turn to this powerful therapeutic remedy to improve overall wellbeing. Numerous positive reviews state that CBD can aid sleep quality, digestion and strengthen your immune system. There are also many medical claims that we cannot mention in order to comply with UK and EU legislation - we recommend you take time to read some of the incredible product testimonials.

How is CBD oil manufactured?

CBD can be extracted from hemp or cannabis plants in several different ways. We use CO₂ extraction to remove any potentially harmful substances. Many oils then undergo decarboxylation, a heating process that allows the body to absorb CBD quicker. Premium quality oils are purified to take out any fats or chemicals and enriched with terpenes to enhance the nourishing and balancing effects of CBD. We blend our oil with olive oil and filter them for purity and a lighter colour. CBD oils should also be independently tested for CBD levels and to show that THC levels don’t exceed the legal limit of 0.2%.

How is CBD oil used, and how quickly is it effective?

For best results, CBD should be taken under the tongue so it can quickly and directly enter the bloodstream. Using the dropper, place several drops under the tongue and hold for up to 5 seconds, longer if possible.  Some people feel instant results whereas others find it takes up to a couple of weeks to discover the right dosage for them in order to experience the benefits.  One of our clients said it was 10 days before he felt the effects, but he reports outstanding results.  On the other end of the scale, a client told us that they felt a difference within the first 24 hours.

Is there a limit on the amount of CBD it’s safe to use?

Dosage will vary from person to person depending on why they’re taking CBD as a dietary supplement.  Currently there’s no set limit or recommended daily allowance because of the many variable factors involved. These include CBD concentration, an individual’s BMI and body chemistry, plus the severity of the condition being treated. Sea CBD adds a recommended maximum daily allowance to all product labels and packaging.  We recommend starting with a low dosage and gradually increasing it until you discover the optimal point where you get the best results.
