A survey has revealed women would rather go without food than makeup to save money in the economic downturn
A new survey by www.feelunique.com has shown that almost 1 in 3 women would rather eat less to save money than reduce their spending on make-up and ‘essential’ beauty items.
67 per cent of the respondents said they would switch to less expensive brands for eggs and milk to save money, but only 30 per cent said they would be willing to buy cheap cosmetics.
You don’t have to switch brands, instead follow these budget beauty tips from spa guru Nicóla Brookes:
1. Make your own beauty scrub to brighten up dull skin, just mix a handful of oatmeal with some olive oil, apply to your skin and rinse off for fresh summer skin.
2. Don’t splash out on pricey bath oil, instead buy epsom salts from your local chemist – they cost a fraction of the price and will soothe aching muscles and flush toxins from your skin.
3. Instead of paying hundreds of pounds for a salon facial, do it at home. All you need to open your pores is some hot (not boiling) water, put in a bowl add some chamomile teabags and sit for five minutes with a towel over your head. It doesn’t look glamorous, but after you’ll have healthy glowing skin.
